HOLMDEL, NJ – It was a veritable who’s who of Monmouth County elected officials at an event supporting Vicky Flynn, Esq. to be the running mate of New Jersey Assemblyman Gerry Scharfenberger on Tuesday night.

The ‘Legislative District 13’ includes Aberdeen, Atlantic Highlands, Fair Haven, Hazlet, Highlands, Holmdel, Keansburg, Keyport, Little Silver, Marlboro, Middletown, Monmouth Beach, Oceanport, Rumson, Sea Bright and Union Beach.

The event was held at Patricia’s Restaurant in Holmdel on Tuesday, March 16th. The crowd of over 100 included dignitaries and guests from the bayshore to the seashore areas. They enjoyed delicious food and drink in Patricia’s hybrid outside/inside patio dining environment.

It was a proud day for the Impreveduto family as well. Former Monmouth County Freeholder and Holmdel Mayor Patrick Impreveduto and his wife, family and friends, heard a breakout speech from their son Rocco Impreveduto. He is running for Holmdel Township Committee. He received the full endorsement of the Holmdel Municipal Committee, Chaired by Marcy McMullen. The Impreveduto’s endorsed Flynn and Scharfenberger.

Flynn is seeking the support of bayshore republicans, seashore republicans and rural central Monmouth County towns that comprise the 13th Legislative District. She serves as Board President of the Holmdel School Board and discussed how public schools should be open and how Holmdel Schools have been open for five day in person learning for months. Watch the video here:

The election is Thursday. Flynn is running as well as incumbent Assemblywoman Serena DiMaso, who the Monmouth County Chairman said is unelectable.

DiMaso, a law school graduate, also serves on the Planning Board in Holmdel and is a Non-EMT driver for the Holmdel First Aid Squad. She is holding her own fundraiser on St. Patrick’s Day in Marlboro. DiMaso was also recently endorsed by former Freeholder Gary Rich. Rich, a former teacher and member of the NJEA, was first elected as a Freeholder in 2012. Rich’s legislative district is District 30, where Assemblyman Sean Kean is currently serving as an Assemblyman.

DiMaso is also supported by Bill Spadea. Spadea hosts a radio show on 101.5 called Chasing New Jersey, where a member of DiMaso’s family works as a Video Editor, according to LinkedIN.

Spadea publicly called DiMaso an EMT and (on air) a  ‘medical professional.’

“Serena DiMaso is an outspoken member of the New Jersey legislature. In addition to doing her job as an EMT, she is always available for constituents when they need help.” said Spadea.

According to the NJEMS Certification System, DiMaso is not an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

Spadea, who worked for Weichert Real Estate, ran and lost an Assembly campaign in 2012 in the 16th District by three to one, defeated by Donna Simon in Readington Township. He lost to Congressman Rush Holt in 2004.

Legislative District 13 Senator Declan O’Scanlon has not endorsed anyone publicly.

The party conventions for both democrats and republicans typically rely on cues from their leadership. DiMaso’s event on St. Patrick’s Day in Marlboro will illustrate her own support from county and state elected officials and TAPinto Holmdel and Colts Neck will share any details available from the event.

For Flynn, support came out in force at this popular local restaurant (see photos). In addition to local officials, notable county and state attendees included:

  • Monmouth County Commissioner Director Tom Arnone
  • Monmouth County Commissioner Deputy Director Sue Kiley
  • Monmouth County Commissioner Ross Licitra
  • Monmouth County Commissioner Nick DiRocco
  • Monmouth County Clerk Christine Hanlon
  • New Jersey State Assemblyman Gerry Scharfenberger (LD 13)
  • New Jersey State Assemblyman Sean Kean (LD 30)
  • Monmouth County Republican Chairman Shaun Golden

The Monmouth County Republican committee is having an election, as all county parties do, to choose who will represent them in various positions such as Monmouth County Board of Commissioners as well as the New Jersey State Assembly and the race for the Governorship of the State of New Jersey.
